Chicken-Chole – what a nice combination.I stopped eavesdropping and started thinking of the recipe and this is how I made it.
Ingredients:- 1/2 cup Chickpeas (Chole) – soaked in water overnight
- Chicken breast – cleaned, cut in cubes
- 1 medium Onion – grind to paste
- 1 medium Tomato – grind to paste
- 1/2 tbsp Cumin seeds
- 2 whole Black peppers and Cloves
- 1 Cinnamon stick
- 2 Cardamoms
- 1 tbsp Red chili powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander powder(Dhaniya powder)
- 1 tbsp Ginger and garlic paste
- a pinch of Turmeric powder
- Salt per taste
- 1 tbsp Lime juice
- Oil.
- 1/2 cup Warm Water
- First boil the soaked chickpeas or can use canned chickpeas.
- Heat oil in a big wok or crockpot.Add in cumin seeds, black peppers, cloves, cinnamon stick, and cardamom.Let it cook for about 2-3 minutes.
- Add in onion paste and cook till golden brown.
- Add in tomato paste and cook till oil separates.
- Next add in red chili powder,turmeric dhaniya powder, salt, lime juice.Cook till oil separates.
- Now add in cubed chicken and boiled chickpeas.Let it cook till oil separates and chicken is fully cooked.
- You may add warm water to get the consistency of a gravy.
- Serve hot with roti or plain rice.
